Nowadays, a modern 21’
yacht would considered by many to be too small for serious
long distance passage-making, however the Kingfisher 20
(K20) comes from an era when 21’ was the average size of a
family yacht – and her concept, build, layout and general
sea-kindliness have seen the class punch well above its
weight with transatlantic cruises and the like being
recorded by intrepid owners over the decades.
Although the K20 will
never be modern, the owner of Wombat has equipped her with
modern electronic navigation aids, as well as modifications
to the rig to make her more “single-hand friendly”, making
her a boat to take seriously by those who appreciate that
less is more, and as we so often say – the best boat you
will ever own is the smallest one that fulfils your role. If
you – and maybe one crew – are looking for a simple, rugged
sailing yacht to enjoy British sailing at its best, the K20
takes some beating.
UPDATE - We
are getting alot of enquiries asking about the availability
of a trailer with this boat. I am afraid no trailer is
available from us for this boat. One suggestion might be to
consider making a simple 4 wheel dolly platform to fit under
the bilge keels which will enable it to roll onto and off a
car transporter trailer - which can be hired when required
very cheaply. Alternatively you could talk to a trailer
supplier - a local one to us is

included in the sale.
