Must be seen to be appreciated.

Without doubt one of the most interesting and, in my view - and I am sure many others’, one of the most charming boats we have ever had the privilege of listing on our brokerage. Her home has been the English Lake District – although we could see her gracing rivers like the Thames, or – with the addition of some sea going equipment she could be a coastal cruiser.

Before expanding upon the boats features a brief note on her history. She has been in the original owner’s family since new up until 2009, and used exclusively on Windermere - kept in a boathouse. She has exceptionally low hours and has had little or no use in the past 15 years, but has been kept in commission, with service bills as recently as 2008 and new batteries.

Much documentation comes with the boat, including itemised records of costs of parts and labour during fit out from 1959.

She was surveyed ashore in September 2009.

“Windward Isles” did suffer some minor damage this past summer while at Windermere. The photos below show the damaged areas which are on the portside rubbing strake and the stern rubbing strake. The surveyor (Sep 2009) found no sign of trauma to the hull in these areas. (A good joiner should be able to make repairs)

In addition to the repairs needed, the survey from September 2009 makes a few recommendations most significantly including –

·         Replacement of trim tabs

·         Replace timber grounding strip along bottom of keel

·         Fit dedicated overboard drain to gas bottle locker

·         Fit gas cut off valve adjacent to cooker

·         Fit flame safe systems to cooker

·         Service the engine raw water inlet seacocks
