I am going to enjoy writing this description…I like this boat…please read these words carefully to begin to appreciate why…

I am not going to spend too much time telling you about the Westerly 25 in general…there is much you can find out about the model in general out on the web – briefly she was the forerunner to the Centaur, and although smaller, the W25 offers a solid, sea friendly compact cruiser with bilge keels opening up a world of cruising possibilities..etc etc…

I want to talk more about this W25. At first glance, you would think a bomb had hit this boat and you will wonder why on earth I could genuinely say I liked this boat and be taken seriously as a reputable yacht broker – the answer becomes clear when you start to take a closer look.

I think maybe around 10 years ago, this boat had a very thorough re-fit and modernisation by a previous owner, and at that time was probably one of the best compact classic sailing cruisers out there. In the past few years its fair to say the TLC has slipped – BUT – all the benefits of that re-fit are there. Look closely at, for example, the keel bolts – they look virtually new to me, look at the rig – the furling gear looks very young, the electronics are comprehensive and still up to date, the engine – a modern Yanmar and so it goes on, with virtually every piece of equipment being of the modern generation. Not too long ago I think the hull was gleaming and the woodwork was lovingly treated – but now it’s become a bit tired with being stood unused. The cabin is full of nifty touches and uses space brilliantly (I love the fold out dining table idea) – but its messy and needs wires tidying and things putting into place. In short – a few days cleaning and tidying, and pre-season preparations and I genuinely think someone will have a fabulous, sea going little yacht for a superb price. We so often say to people, the smallest boat that does your job will be the best boat you ever own – and for many people the W25 will do the job brilliantly!
