We are listing this boat for
sale under instruction from the executor of the former owner’s
estate who unfortunately has recently passed on and who was
a hugely popular character within the small community of
Preston Marina.
Orolong
is very much like her former owner – a bit of a one-off, full of
character and proven to be supremely capable, but has a
veneer of untidiness, which might cause initial observers to
make the mistake of underestimating her.
The Claymores offer excellent
accommodation, but Oralong has been modified to
provide optimal living space for a single handed sailer (but
would be equally suited to a couple with serious cruising
aspirations). Her aft cabin has a good sized double berth
athwartships, with hanging wardrobe space. The main saloon
has a dining area to port (which can be dropped to make a
temporary double berth, although this feature needs a small
amount of work to restore). To starboard is the separate
heads compartment, and forward of this a recently installed
solid fuel cabin heater.
The forepeak would normally
contain 2 berths in the bow, but Orolong’s
former owner was
a keen amateur chef, and as result she has been modified to
incorporate possibly the best galley ever found on a 30’
yacht!
* The inventory summary above
is based upon observations made by ourselves but we are in
no position to comment as to the condition and functional
status of any of the boat’s inventory or fittings, and we
would of course strongly recommend a marine surveyor be
engaged prior to a sale completion.
A thorough (and entertaining)
log of her recent voyage and maintenance history, plus an
insurance survey from November 2006 are available for review
in the offices of Preston Marina.
