Bayliner Saratoga 2550
“Lady Jane 2” -£8,500 Type: Bayliner Saratoga 2550 – Hardtop motor cruiser Built (believed) 1973, 3 + 2 Berths LOA 25’ (7.62m), Beam 8’ (2.44m), Draft 2’3”. The weight is not known accurately, but this type of boat is believed to have a dry weight of around 2,200kgs. Allowing for equipment, fluids and the trailer a vehicle rated to 3,500kgs would be a minimum towing recommendation.
Engines: Twin Perkins 4.165 4 cyl Diesel (75hp each) on Volvo sterndrive legs. Last serviced 2008/9 - Both in good running order (last run properly late May 2010) Inventory: Cockpit Canopy (looks very recent), Stainless Steel Davits, Compass, Depth Sounder, New VHF Radio, Transom boarding ladder. 12v Cool Box. 2 burner gas stove/oven, Sea Toilet in separate compartment. Trailer: Twin axle braked trailer (painted)
Coming from a time before Bayliner achieved worldwide recognition, you don’t find many Saratogas in the UK, but it could be said that her design is more suited to typical British cruising requirements than the modern output of the American factory. The hardtop cockpit offers good shelter and visibility, and the twin diesel engines make this potentially a very capable little craft for our varied waters. Below decks through the companionway, immediately to starboard is the spacious heads (WC) compartment with a recently fitted sea toilet. Facing this compartment is a hanging locker which also houses a 12v cool box. Forward and to starboard in the galley, with sink unit and cooker, with ample cupboard provision. To port is a small dining area with drop-down table to make a single berth. The bow area has a large V double berth. There is plenty of evidence around the boat that she is being offered by a caring owner with many recent improvements visible throughout the boat and the engine bay looks clean and well attended. The cockpit canopy is a particular highlight – looking to be in very good condition and nicely tailored to the boat and would provide shelter for overflow sleeping accommodation requirements. She is obviously not a young boat, but she still offers her new owner great potential at an attractive price. She has not been used on the inland waterways system and therefore does not have a Boat Safety Certificate. Click photos below to enlarge - Use your browsers BACK Button to return to this page.
